Annual Camp Parapet Day

Only day in the year when the grounds of Camp Parapet are open to the public. This Civil War site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Numerous period displays and demonstrations throughout the event with participants in period attire, to include period dancing and audience participation, military flag raising ceremonies on the hour by uniformed re-enactors, civil war weapons display, soldiers’ letters written from Camp Parapet, and a large scale diorama of Camp Parapet as it existed during the war. The historic powder magazine, which after the war was used at various times as a jail and a post office, will be open to the public. Free admission. Ample parking on the median on South Causeway Blvd. Gates are a short one block walk from parking area. Camp Parapet is one block off Jefferson Highway in Old Jefferson.
