  • New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond will hold 10 group meetings with clergy abuse survivors across local parishes from Feb. 6 to Feb. 10 as part of a $230 million bankruptcy settlement, with the first meeting scheduled at Holy Name of Jesus Parish at noon.  Fox 8
  • C.D.W. Services is upgrading the Algiers ferry terminal at 101 Morgan St. with $9.03 million to add a covered ferry bridge, new second floor + elevator, and a redesigned plaza, while Trinity Episcopal School is expanding its campus with a new dining hall built by Woodward Design and Build.  New Orleans City Business

  • Black oystermen once propelled the seafood industry but now see their legacy vanish as rising costs and new laws limit harvesting. Culinary historian Zella Palmer says systemic racism and economic shifts have forced many to switch from gathering to shucking oysters in restaurants.  Verite News

  • Today, the 18th Annual Joan of Arc Parade will take a shorter route in the French Quarter starting at Bienville and Front Streets at 7:30 p.m. Construction in the Quarter forces changes, with the blessing of Joan’s Sword moved to St. Mary’s Chapel and a moving puppet at the end.  WWL-TV
  • The Krewe of Bacchus announced actor Patrick Warburton, known for his work on Seinfeld + Family Guy, will reign as Bacchus LVII at the parade on Feb. 15 as part of celebrations for America's 250th anniversary that include the Bacchus Rendezvous at the Morial Convention Center.  WDSU
  • New Orleans Carnival Krewes are preparing for Twelfth Night celebrations as Carnival Season begins today. Parade organizers are readying events along St. Charles Avenue with festivities running for six weeks, culminating in Fat Tuesday (Feb. 17).  WDSU
  • Stronghold Studios in Mid-City is leading the Mardi Gras 2026 House Float tradition after the Krewe dissolved, offering design and fabrication services to homeowners while hosting an interactive online map and flower sales at its 4429 Bienville Ave. warehouse on January weekends; House Float displays will run through Carnival.  Biz New Orleans

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Entergy filed for a $1B west Louisiana transmission project that could raise residential electric bills by $3.47 and support a $10B data center in West Feliciana Parish.   • Crews began installing concrete barriers along St. Charles Avenue Monday to slow traffic and protect Carnival parade crowds from Jackson to Louisiana Avenues. Drivers should expect lane closures as the work continues for weeks, with extra plastic water filled barriers set to be added closer to parade day (a key safety measure).  WWL-TV
