  • A fire burned five to six vehicles at Tulane’s Diboll Garage on Friday afternoon and forced TUPD to close the facility indefinitely until it is deemed safe while the cause is under investigation and no foul play is suspected.  NOLA.com

  • The NOLA Lolas Sheauxgirls, a Broadway showgirl themed dance krewe, dazzled with glitz & flair in the Krewe of Oshun parade today, energizing local festivities with their creative performance in New Orleans.  WWL-TV
  • In 1964, New Orleans’ Dixie Cups recorded 'Iko Iko' for fun; the song evolved into a Carnival staple and group member Barbara Hawkins recalled drumming on ashtrays (a spontaneous moment sparking a lasting hit).  Verite News
  • Today, the Krewe of Pygmalion begins Mardi Gras weekend with a parade starting at 6:15 p.m. along the Uptown route from Jefferson Avenue to Magazine Street. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tulane Law hosted its record-breaking NFL negotiation competition Jan. 30-31 at Tulane University, where 56 teams from 39 law schools negotiated mock NFL contracts before top NFL execs and industry judges. HEALTH NEWS

  • LCMC Health and the New Orleans Health Department have set up first aid stations along Mardi Gras parade routes since Friday, Feb. 6—providing supplies and pop-up nursing pods for mothers—and will cover events in Metairie, Kenner and Westbank on upcoming dates.  WWL-TV

  • Hannan senior Kaitlyn Brady signed with Providence on Feb. 3 for Division I soccer after two years of recruiting (her journey began with a call on June 15). She set a school record and overcame a torn hamstring, with coach Peters saying she is ready for a competitive season.  NOLA.com
