  • The St. Bernard Port handled more than 6.6 million short tons of cargo in 2025 and completed a $38M Chalmette Slip reconstruction — a move that improved access for local industries.   • Four blue ammonia plants proposed along Louisiana’s Mississippi River corridor could heighten air pollution and health risks for nearby communities including Donaldsonville and Modeste.   • Federal officials say an offshore oil and gas lease sale will take place on March 11 with over 80 million acres available for bidding near Louisiana’s coast.   • In 2025, the Downtown Development District celebrated its 50th anniversary by releasing an Annual Report that showed how its cleaning, safety, and economic efforts kept Downtown strong.
