  • Youth Empowerment Project promoted Darrin McCall to president & Jerome Jupiter to CEO while longtime leader Melissa Sawyer stepped into an advisory role. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A hose failure at the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port near Port Fourchon released 750 barrels of crude oil last week; cleanup crews have recovered over 80% of the spill using 5,000 feet of containment boom with 40 vessels and 330 personnel on scene, though 17 birds were impacted.  Fox 8

  • The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce has announced the seventh annual Power Up Women’s Leadership Conference schedule, featuring keynotes, 16 breakout sessions & panels aimed at advancing businesswomen. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Crawfish processors are running at lower capacity today because the Department of Homeland Security denied foreign worker visas that companies normally apply for in November. State officials, including Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain, say Governor Landry and lawmakers will press Congress for more visas soon.  The Lens
  • Louisiana topped $100B in industrial investments ahead of schedule, led by Amazon and Meta AI data centers that could create over 20,000 construction jobs statewide. Gov.   • LCMC Health announced a $14M plan to merge women and newborn care services at Lakeside Hospital on the east bank of Jefferson Parish—combining staff and facilities from EJGH to enhance labor and delivery care.  Biz New Orleans

  • A report by HousingLOUISIANA and the NLIHC shows a national shortage of affordable rental homes, with Louisiana offering just 42 per 100 low-income households and 73% of renters spending over half their income on housing (a severe cost burden).   • Businessman Troy Henry plans a redevelopment at the former Six Flags site in New Orleans East with a movie studio, water park, youth sports complex, and hotel in a project called Bayou Phoenix.   • New Orleans will host its first-ever X Games Championship for the MoonPay X Games League summer season on July 24–26 at the Caesars Superdome, where more than 100 athletes (skateboarding, BMX, and Moto X) are set to compete in 18 events.  New Orleans City Business
