EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On March 5 at Livingston Collegiate Academy, ninth graders learned about New Orleans flood risks through a hands-on pump lesson that ended in system failures. The environmental curriculum by Ripple Effect lost nearly $1.9 million in federal funding but will continue to teach local science concepts. NOLA.com
- ➤ Louisiana's LA GATOR program has helped roughly 5,600 low-income students attend private schools, but only 4% have disabilities, state data shows. The program offers tuition funds and limited education options (including technology and supplies) through a state-approved marketplace. NOLA.com

- ➤ Jefferson Parish leaders are investigating a video that circulated Sunday showing individuals on float #28 at the St. Patrick's Day parade giving a gesture that appears to be a Nazi salute + Jefferson Parish president Cynthia Lee Sheng stated that hate is not tolerated and parade organizers have been notified. - ➤ Gov. Landry ordered public schools to display the Ten Commandments after a federal appeals court vacated an injunction (last month). Some districts plan to post them soon while others will wait until next school year, with the Attorney General backing the move without fear of litigation. The Lens
