COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Downtown Irish Club Parade returns today at 6:30 p.m. with its 50th anniversary event beginning at Elysian Fields Avenue and Royal Street and winding through Gravier to finish at Lucy’s Restaurant. The New Orleans Police Department warns drivers to expect delays, intermittent road closures and extra parking enforcement.  WWL-TV
  • ConnectLA director Veneeth Iyengar says Louisiana residents rely on several internet options, but fiber-optic delivery remains the fastest choice for streaming and other digital activities. State officials led by Gov. Jeff Landry plan to expand fiber broadband in rural areas & underserved communities to meet growing demand.  WWL-TV

  • HPBExpo26 is set to begin tomorrow at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and will run until March 21. CULTURE NEWS

  • French Quarter Fest has unveiled its lineup for a 4-day celebration featuring 302 performances, 45 debuts, an official parade, over 70 culinary vendors, a riverfront experience, and a festival 5K Run presented by LCMC Health.   • The New Orleans Book Festival, NOEW and the 3rd Coast Venture Summit took place March 9-13, drawing national authors, startup founders and investors to discuss literature, business and tech.   • A water main break near Tulane was mostly repaired near Audubon — testing on the 80-year-old pipe and repaving of the road remain underway. Mayor Moreno expects an update from SWB Director Randy Hayman on plans to address similar leaks in Uptown.  WDSU
  • New Orleans and Jefferson Parish officials are set to redevelop the abandoned West End Park site near Lake Pontchartrain under Mayor Helena Moreno's plan — the city and council will approve an economic development district with a sales tax measure as parish votes on the resolution Wednesday.  NOLA.com

  • Construction is underway at Maple Street's Campus Rentals Plaza in Uptown New Orleans by Asper Construction and Development + developers Alex and Stephen Rovner. The three story mixed use project will feature ground floor retail and four student oriented residential units in a 13,000 sqft hybrid housing facility.  New Orleans City Business
