- ➤ The Walnut Room opened in 1940 at Lakefront Airport (in the Art Deco terminal) and first hosted live music performances. It served as a nightclub and discotheque over the years before a post-Katrina renovation transformed it into Messina’s Runway Cafe. NOLA.com
