  • Mayor Helena Moreno will headline Delgado’s Roast of the Town fundraiser on Friday, April 10 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel (500 Canal St) to support local scholarships.   • Neurotech startup JuneBrain secured investment from New Orleans BioFund and Gulf South Angels to support its AI-driven headsets for monitoring neurological diseases.   • The 41st annual French Quarter Easter Parade will be held Sunday and will start at 1 p.m. at the corner of St. Louis and Royal streets, featuring festive floats, riders in Easter attire, and a hat contest and silent auction (11 a.m. at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel).  Fox 8

  • A federal judge ended court oversight of special education services in local charter schools on March 31. The ruling follows over a decade of reforms that expanded staff training & family support for about 4,500 students with disabilities.  WWL-TV
  • Jefferson Parish Schools received the 2026 District Award of Excellence for Educator Effectiveness and a $50,000 check (recognizing its focus on teacher development) at a conference on Thursday, Apr. 2 at the New Orleans Marriott.   • City leaders are examining party bus safety concerns for local nightlife — they plan to review current regulations and may introduce new safety measures soon. More details are expected as discussions continue.  WWL-TV
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $419M contract to Pittman-Sealevel, L.L.C. on April 2 to extend a 0.25-mile levee in St. John the Baptist Parish as part of the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project; it will cut storm surge risk for 60,000 residents and finish in 2029.  WWL-TV
