- ➤ Officers arrested Christopher Parker after a weekend shooting in the French Quarter injured five people near Decatur and Iberville—video shows him firing into a crowd during a fight at French Quarter Fest and he was later found with a gun warm to the touch—and a judge set a $2 million bond while all victims remained stable. - ➤ Terrance Green, who faced multiple drug and gun charges, fled court custody on Thursday and removed his ankle monitor at Walmart on Tchoupitoulas Street — authorities now consider him armed and dangerous. Fox 8

- ➤ A new Tulane University study shows that mostly Black neighborhoods near chemical plants along the lower Mississippi get most of the air pollution but few jobs in the chemical sector. The study found that in Louisiana, 41 percent of working-age people are nonwhite yet hold only 21 percent of high-paying jobs and 33 percent of low-paying roles in the industry. - ➤ Today, the House Civil Law Committee approved a bill that bars drivers determined by police to be 51% or more at fault from recovering damages for injuries from auto accidents—an 11–4 vote passed the measure along party lines. Louisiana Radio Network
- ➤ Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has activated Phase 1 flood flight procedures in New Orleans after Mississippi River levels at the Carrollton Gage climbed above 12.85 feet—levee inspections will occur twice a week until water drops below 11 feet. River levels are forecast to reach 16.5 feet by the end of the weekend, and no impacts are expected for the city at this time. WDSU
- ➤ On Wednesday, Louisiana’s Public Service Commission voted 3-2 to cancel an energy efficiency program meant to lower electric bills for residents who already use more power than any state—critics say the abrupt decision allows utilities to keep earning money from unused energy.
