CULTURE NEWS

  • For National Library Week (Apr. 19 to 25), a look back recalls New Orleans’ main library built in 1908 with funding from Andrew Carnegie and noted for its neoclassical design with 30-ft limestone columns and a copper dome. It was replaced in 1958 and later demolished.  NOLA.com

  • LSU Gymnastics finished as NCAA National Runnerup with a score of 198.0750 at Dickies Arena on Saturday, falling just short of Oklahoma. Sophomore Kailin Chio made history with a perfect vault score, marking the Tigers’ fourth runnerup finish and best season since winning in 2024.  WDSU
  • The NFL draft will start on Thursday, Apr. 23 in Pittsburgh, with 257 picks over three days (the first round begins at 8 p.m. ET) as Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza is expected to go No. 1 to the Raiders while Alabama's Ty Simpson garners early interest.  WDSU
