- ➤ Two suspects—19-year-old Harry Darby and 18-year-old Julian Vicknair—were charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder after Colby Scheffler was fatally shot following a robbery in New Orleans on April 6, with both bonds set at $1.5 million and a next court date scheduled for June 6. They are now doing daily levee inspections from Baton Rouge to Venice—checking for cracks or seepage, keeping large ships 180 feet away, and suspending waivers for subsurface work within 1,500 feet of the levees. - ➤ The Louisiana Department of Health launched Project MOM—Maternal Overdose Mortality—to reduce maternal deaths from accidental drug overdoses by increasing referrals and expanding residential treatment sites from three to eight by next year.
