  • Second Harvest Food Bank has seen diesel costs jump 70% since late January and now risks cutting food delivery by 26-foot trucks serving 23 parishes as federal funding and food donations fall. The nonprofit is asking for community support to help cover rising fuel expenses.  WDSU

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Officials said crews plugged a major sewer leak in the Industrial Canal after a vessel struck a transmission main — releasing 40 to 50 million gallons of raw sewage over two weeks — with repairs expected to take several more weeks.  WWL-TV

  • ACG Louisiana will hold its 17th Annual Awards Dinner at The Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday, May 14 to honor local business leaders and deals, with awards for Deal, Corporate and Emerging Growth plus in memoriam honors for business pioneers.  Biz New Orleans
  • The New Orleans Convention Center is hosting WIN: Pitch Smart Retail Ready Competition on June 11, where local small businesses pitch their retail products to a panel of judges with a chance to have their items sold at Dutch's Corner (its in-house store).   • Jamaican reggae revival artists Protoje and Sevana energized Jazz Fest on April 24 at Congo Square and the Cultural Exchange Pavilion, offering a fresh blend of reggae, dancehall, rocksteady and R&B.   • Brothers Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick won the 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans today and secured their PGA Tour status with a dramatic finish. Their strong team play in a tense final round brought a memorable boost to their professional journey.  WDSU
  • St. Augustine senior Dwayne Johnson has earned three state gold medals in high school gymnastics and is making a strong impact on his team this season. His local achievements highlight his growing talent in sports.  WWL-TV
  • The New Orleans Saints selected University of Georgia tight end Oscar Delp in the 3rd round of the 2026 NFL Draft during a home celebration broadcast & his family dog sneaked onto the sofa and quickly went viral on social media.  WDSU
  • The Saints added nearly 20 new players after the NFL Draft by selecting eight over three days, signing 10 free agents, and trading for edge rusher Tyree Wilson. These moves (including recruits from Georgia and LSU) set the team up for an improved season under coach Kellen Moore.  Fox 8
