ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 25-year-old Gretna man riding an electric scooter died when a pickup truck struck him at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday in Belle Chasse (state police reported he was not wearing a helmet and his scooter lacked lights) and the pickup driver remained at the scene to provide a breath sample.  NOLA.com

  • Authorities continued the manhunt for Orleans Parish jail escapees after recapturing three individuals and increasing the reward to $12,000 & former officials and local leaders called for an audit over jail security.  Fox 8
  • New Orleans police searched for a driver after a distinctive lakebound black pickup truck hit and seriously injured a cyclist and fled from the Canal and Marais intersection at 12:37 a.m. on April 5 toward Claiborne Avenue— the truck is described as a 2015—2020 model with a lift kit, green LED undercarriage lights and orange grill lights.  NOLA.com
  • New Orleans police are asking for help after a white Dodge Ram hit and killed a woman who was changing a tire on the shoulder near High Rise on May 10+ the male suspect fled on foot and officers urge anyone with information to call NOPD at 504 658-6205 or Crimestoppers at 504 822-1111.  NOLA.com
  • New Orleans police say a deadly shooting occurred Sunday around 1:40 p.m.—the incident took place at the intersection of Edinburgh and Eagle Streets in Hollygrove when EMS confirmed the victim was fatally shot inside a car.  WDSU
  • Police are still searching for seven inmates who escaped from Orleans Justice Center and are offering a $20K reward for each fugitive — no arrests have been made yet.  Fox 8
