  • Steven Guitterrez announced his resignation from District 9 this week, leaving an open seat on the Jefferson Parish School Board. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Louisiana officials are preparing for hurricane season with contraflow plans to evacuate over 1 million from the New Orleans area. Nearly 200 DOTD crew + state police will deploy 1,300 cones, drums, and signs at 20 interstate sites while Councilman Matthew Willard supports infrastructure upgrades.  WDSU
  • Jefferson Parish plans to finance a new drug court building in Gretna using $65 million in opioid settlement funds, with $17 million in bonds slated for the project; three years into receiving payments, parish leaders have spent $216,000 on design work as they expand treatment options for opioid addiction.  Verite News
