  • Toups Family Meal will deliver free breakfast and lunch meals to children starting June 10 with deliveries on Wednesdays across New Orleans. The initiative is set to prepare 70,000 meals (with $5 donations covering one meal) to help families facing food insecurity.  WWL-TV

  • Louisiana lawmakers are set to expand TOPS-Tech eligibility for students graduating on or after the 2026-27 school year. The bill adds a dual enrollment credit pathway and allows part-time enrollment, pending Senate leader approval and the Governor’s signature.  New Orleans City Business
  • Brennan Jacques, who grew up in a troubled housing development, broke the cycle of violence to become a teacher at Phyllis Wheatley Community School in Treme and author his memoir 'Bloodline of Trauma.' He now works to guide students away from the painful legacy of his past.  Verite News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Louisiana reached a settlement with ExxonMobil to resolve coastal erosion disputes and address orphan wells, Gov. Jeff Landry reported Thursday. Documents still need to be finalized as the deal follows a Supreme Court ruling that moved similar cases to federal court.  New Orleans City Business
  • Volunteers removed a record 566 tons of litter during Love the Boot Week across Louisiana — more than 28,000 people participated in 1,624 events and contributed nearly 78,000 volunteer hours. Lt.   • On Friday, May 29, New Orleans EMS hosted U.S. Navy Fleet Surgical Team EIGHT at its headquarters, where 18 medical professionals trained with local paramedics in advanced trauma care techniques like cold blood transfusions and portable ultrasound.
