  • The Louisiana State Barbers and Beauty Association is holding its 78th Annual Convention at the Holiday Inn Express in Metairie from June 7 to June 9, with the event underway as it began yesterday.   • A man was fatally stabbed in Gert Town near the intersection of South Dupre and Thalia streets on Saturday afternoon at 3:47 p.m., police reported that emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.  NOLA.com

  • Former WWL-TV anchor Sally-Ann Roberts and her brother Lawrence Roberts held two book signings last Saturday, June 7 to promote their new children’s book Lucy Sings on Lucy Street—a tribute to their late mother Lucimarian Roberts. They read the book at Garden District Book Shop at 2727 Prytania St. in New Orleans at 11 a.m. and then held a signing at Robin’s Nest in the Pass in Pass Christian, Mississippi at 3 p.m.  WWL-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tulane University will receive $20 million from the City of New Orleans to redevelop the former Charity Hospital Downtown — planning for the project is expected to begin soon.  WWL-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Jeff Landry accused the oil—gas industry of hypocrisy over SB 244, a bill that would change the rules on legacy lawsuits and shift duties within the state's energy agencies. The more than 200-page measure is headed for a final House vote on Sunday as legislators plan to add further amendments to address cleanup liabilities and environmental oversight.  NOLA.com
  • Utility Entergy is asking Louisiana regulators to approve its plan to power Meta's massive data center in Richland Parish by building three new gas-fired plants for $3.2 billion, while consumer advocacy and environmental groups warn that load fluctuations could destabilize the grid and cause outages for residents. Entergy said it completed extensive modeling to address the risks, and regulators will decide on the proposal later this year.  WBOK
