- ➤ City Park Conservancy hosted final public planning meetings on June 25 at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters to review its nearly final park redevelopment plan that will restore native plants, create a central trail junction, add sports facilities, and install an artistic light feature under local highways. The plan must now get approval from the City Park Improvement Association and Conservancy board before design phases begin—some improvements like restroom fixes and signage will start within the next year as redevelopment unfolds over 20 to 25 years. - ➤ Bridgitte Durbin of Mandeville won the $700,000 St. Jude Dream Home on Live Oak Street in Metairie, as announced on June 26 during Fox 8 Morning—located a block from Lake Pontchartrain. - ➤ The City Council is introducing an ordinance today to give 40% of school-zone camera ticket revenue to NOLA Public Schools—this 60—40 split will free fines held in escrow since last fall. - ➤ Three mayoral candidates held a forum at VOTE headquarters on June 26th where Arthur Hunter, Helena Moreno, and Oliver Thomas outlined plans to improve affordable housing, fix infrastructure, and enhance public services in New Orleans. Hunter said he would launch a new reentry program, Moreno pledged to convert empty city buildings into affordable housing, and Thomas vowed to use reliable contractors to speed up repairs. NOLA.com

- ➤ Lake Pontchartrain will host its first professional powerboat race in 20 years this weekend at Metairie’s Bonnabel Boat Launch, with powerboats and jet skis set to race over 200 mph from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
