- ➤ A hit-and-run in the French Quarter on Friday night left an NOPD officer injured and an OPSO deputy treated after officers tried to stop 23-year-old Mark Hunter, Jr. for reckless driving and doing doughnuts—he struck both officers near the intersection of Bourbon and Conti streets and was later taken to a hospital for treatment—Hunter will be booked following his care. - ➤ Jefferson Parish jurors reached a verdict Tuesday by finding Curtis Thomas III guilty of second-degree murder and related charges for killing Charles McGehee Sr. on Feb. 13 at a West Bank home with a violent past—a sentencing is set for Aug. 21. NOLA.com
