Good morning, New Orleans.

The New Orleans Police Department arrested Joshua 'Josh' Kagler— a 38-year-old educator from schools including George Washington Carver, McDonough 35, and Warren Easton— this morning on 12 felony charges for rape, sexual battery, and trafficking minors for sex as detectives gather further evidence.

New Orleans Police are searching for Prince John Holmes-Fisher, a 23-year-old last seen on July 19 in the 900 block of Alvar Street in Bywater — he was wearing a black knit cap, gray long-sleeve shirt, and jeans, and detectives ask anyone with information to call Fifth District at 504-658-6050.

New Orleans Police reported that 14-year-old Terrvella Washington—last seen at her Earhart Boulevard home wearing a black shirt and black shorts on July 21 at 10:30 p.m.—was reported missing and investigators are asking the public for help finding her.

Tyrell Morris, the former head of the city's 911 center, was disqualified from the mayor's race by a judge on Monday for not filing his state taxes since 2021—he also faces criminal charges related to an incident with a city-owned SUV.

A poll shows Councilmember Helena Moreno leads the mayor's race with 47% support—while Councilman Oliver Thomas has 16%, state Senator Royce Duplessis 14%, retired judge Arthur Hunter 5%, and 15% of voters remain undecided among 600 respondents.

Political science professor Ed Chervenak said Moreno's opponents must wait for a scandal to catch her off guard as the contest heads toward the October 11 election.

At a City Council transportation committee meeting on Tuesday, Bike Easy urged officials to install a protected bike lane on St. Claude Avenue after a cyclist was killed on July 12— the group noted that the upgrade, affecting 341 riders daily, will depend on state DOTD approval since the road is a state highway. The advocacy comes after previous fatal incidents and calls for safer streets have grown urgent.

Tyrann Mathieu—the Honey Badger—retired from the NFL after 12 seasons as his parents shared insights on his decision during recent interviews.

NFL tight end Jimmy Graham retired after a 13-year career that included six seasons with the Saints—he finished his final season in 2023 as a five-time Pro Bowler with 89 touchdowns, ranking fourth at his position.
