CRIME NEWS

  • Johnte Nelson, 25, was booked into Orleans Parish jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery after a fight in his vehicle in Treme led to two shots being fired at a victim, and police said North Claiborne Avenue was closed during rush hour—hospital officials reported that the victim remains hospitalized.  NOLA.com

  • New Orleans residents will vote for mayor, assessor, sheriff, criminal court clerk, and all seven City Council seats this year; voters for council will choose three candidates—two at-large and one district representative.
