- ➤ The New Orleans chapter of the Hash House Harriers will host the annual Red Dress Run this weekend in the French Quarter where thousands will run and party while wearing red dresses—supporting local charities. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Armstrong Park and the race will begin at 11 a.m. WRNO
- ➤ French Quarter residents and business owners faced challenges with homelessness until a pilot program launched July 15 paired law enforcement with outreach teams to help individuals by connecting them with housing, health care and addiction treatment—offering a new path for those in need. In two weeks, the program helped 42 people secure stable housing and halved the weekly homeless encounters—suggesting a model that could soon expand across the city. WWL-TV

- ➤ Daniel Callihan faces new federal and state charges for the 2024 murder of Callie Brunett, the kidnapping of her two daughters, and the killing of 4-year-old Erin—his pretrial hearing in Tangipahoa Parish has been delayed until October 20. WWL-TV
- ➤ A deputy fired his gun at a resisting driver during a traffic stop on the Earhart Expressway just east of Clearview Parkway in Metairie on August 6th at 1:45 p.m.—the suspect, a convicted felon, was arrested and his weapon seized. WDSU

- ➤ At a forum on Aug. 4 at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, New Orleans mayoral candidates vowed to reduce crime by expanding youth programs and mental health care—steps they say will help heal families affected by gun violence. - ➤ Attorney General Liz Murrill said it was unacceptable that videos showed court staff searching through trash at Gentilly Landfill after hundreds of court files were moved without notice by city workers. Clerk Darren Lombard said his office began searching the landfill on Tuesday and recovered some records — he called the incident a catastrophic failure. NOLA.com
