  • Former judge (and former NOPD officer) Arthur Hunter dropped from the mayoral race on August 7 and endorsed state Sen. Royce Duplessis, citing shared views on criminal justice reform. His decision may reshape the campaign dynamics as race contenders continue to prepare for a possible run-off.  WBOK
  • The City Council overrode Mayor LaToya Cantrell's veto of a charter amendment that would stop the city attorney from taking sides in lawsuits between the mayor and council — the amendment will be on the Nov. 15 ballot for voters to decide.   • Former Criminal District Court Judge Arthur Hunter ended his mayoral campaign on Thursday and endorsed State Senator Royce Duplessis, who launched his bid on July 1 to boost job creation, improved infrastructure and affordable housing.
