- ➤ Mayor LaToya Cantrell was indicted last Friday on 11 counts including wire fraud, obstruction of justice, and lying to a grand jury—allegedly misusing city funds to travel with former police officer Jeffrey Vappie—and is set for an initial arraignment on Sept. 10 which could force her removal from office if she is convicted of a felony.
