  • On September 3, Northshore Food Bank unveiled its new 20-foot Isuzu box truck at its Covington headquarters with support from Louisiana Healthcare Connections and CGB Enterprises. The second truck in its fleet will double food deliveries on the eastern side of St. Tammany Parish — including Slidell — to help more households amid food insecurity.  NOLA.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ghost Manor announced on Saturday that it will not be open in 2025 because major road work on Magazine Street has begun this week and will last three months—this work makes it difficult for visitors. The haunted house plans to open again in 2026.  WDSU
  • Mental: Elderly Abuse will premiere Sept 11 at The Broad Theater in New Orleans with a screening, pre-reception, and Q&A with director Khalif Breaux and the cast. The documentary exposes elder abuse and financial exploitation—focusing on Letreian Johns who fights to protect her mother after nearly $200,000 is lost.  WDSU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Xavier University of Louisiana, the only Catholic HBCU, celebrates its 100th anniversary this week as it marks the founding of its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences when its first graduates earned diplomas. Founded in 1915 — originally as Xavier Prep — the school underwent major renovations after Hurricane Katrina and announced plans for a new medical college with Ochsner Health that will be the only HBCU medical school in the Gulf South.  WBOK

  • The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority begins its fall service changes today—adjusting schedules and routes on select lines like 105 Algiers local and 31/32 Leonidas.  WWL-TV

  • On Sunday, September 7, a computer prediction stated that the Arizona Cardinals beat the New Orleans Saints 26-19 at Caesars Superdome—kickoff was at 1 p.m. ET—and covered a -6.5 spread while the game finished over 43.5 total points.  WDSU
