- ➤ The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music — in partnership with the Maple Leaf Bar — has announced Booker & Beyond, a new solo piano concert series celebrating New Orleans piano traditions with a debut performance on Oct 21 and additional shows following a monthly and weekly schedule. - ➤ University of New Orleans Jazz Studies will present the 2025 Jazz at the Sandbar music series at the 410 Lounge in the UNO Library on Lakeshore Drive starting with Brent Rose Quartet on Oct. 15, followed by Ricardo Pascal on Oct. 22 and Ivan Neville on Oct. 29 — a $10 admission fee funds the George Brumat Memorial Jazz Scholarship. - ➤ Cleanup operations in Roseland progressed as the EPA recovered over 9.5 million gallons of liquid waste after delays from overnight rain on the Northshore; nine vacuum trucks cleaned ditches along US 51 and 18 trucks worked at local ponds while crews installed underflow dams to block oily material from reaching the Tangipahoa River and nearby ponds. The agency also used specialized skimmers — felt drum and rope mop skimmers — to boost recovery efficiency. WDSU
