- ➤ Saint Bernard Parish hosted its annual C.O.P.S. for Christmas Chili Cookoff where 18 teams competed to raise money for families during the holiday season—supporting neighbors in need. WWL-TV
- ➤ New Orleans will host many kid-friendly Halloween events that offer fun activities for children—event details such as times and venues are available through local sources. Families are encouraged to check for updates as plans progress. WWL-TV
- ➤ Families met earlier in Kenner at the Night Out Against Crime event to connect with local agencies. The city will officially launch National Night Out on Tuesday, October 21. WWL-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Dile Que NOLA is keeping Hispanic culture alive in New Orleans with Cuban casino dance classes held in a small studio where dancers learn steps and Spanish. Executive director Nicole Goldin Muro and nine other founders have built a community where participants learn history & language through movement and celebrate diversity. WDSU
- ➤ New Orleans is hosting a busy weekend of festivals with events like Boo at the Zoo, Ghost in the Oaks, and Oktoberfest. In Bayou St. John, Praise Fest on the Bayou offers free gospel music while in St. John the Baptist Parish the Andouille Festival features performers Amada Shaw and Juvenile through today. WDSU

- ➤ New Orleans police have enforced an 8 p.m. curfew on Bourbon Street by directing vendors, performers, and homeless residents to clear out as the campaign aims to boost safety while some entertainers say the measures limit their work — business leaders welcome the change for making the street cleaner and safer. Neighborhood voters will decide in November whether to renew the sales tax that funds these patrols, a decision that could shape public safety in the French Quarter. NOLA.com
- ➤ Thousands protested at the 'No Kings 2.0' rally in New Orleans on Saturday to oppose federal troop deployments and an immigration crackdown — many carrying signs demanding funds for health care and schools rather than ICE. Demonstrators said they would continue to rally for change as the government shutdown entered its third week — urging officials to protect constitutional rights. WDSU
