BUSINESS NEWS

  • Los Angeles-based Reformation will open its first Louisiana store on Thursday, October 30 at 3909 Magazine St in New Orleans. The renovated shop features a tech-centered shopping experience—customers use touchscreens to browse inventory, order items to dressing rooms, and recycle old pieces for credit.  NOLA.com

CRIME NEWS

  • Police stated there was no arrest as NBA YoungBoy briefly walked near Canal and Bourbon in the French Quarter—officers arranged a protective corridor and escorted him to a vehicle while his second concert at the Smoothie King Center was scheduled for Monday night.  Fox 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian John Mulaney will perform in New Orleans on Feb. 20 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater at 7:30 p.m.—tickets go on sale Friday.  NOLA.com
  • Freddie Keppard was the first New Orleans cornetist crowned ‘King’ for his pure tone and innovative stop-time technique—he joined the Original Creole Orchestra in 1912, later performed in Chicago, and his career ended due to tuberculosis before he died in July 1933.  Verite News
  • Loyola University New Orleans student filmmakers and faculty will premiere new works at the 36th annual New Orleans Film Festival (an Academy Awards-qualifying event) that runs Oct. 23 to 27 in theaters across the city. The festival will feature award-qualifying short films, a feature film starring local talent, and a college film day co-hosted with Tulane to support emerging filmmakers.  Biz New Orleans
  • The NOCCA Foundation and Daniel Price's family announced the Home for the Holidays Fundraiser set for Dec. 6 at House of Blues to honor Price and raise scholarships for aspiring artists. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Veolia and Delgado Community College are teaming up to launch a Workforce Development Internship Program that will give 15 students hands-on training at wastewater treatment facilities on the East Bank— the program will help students build skills for water and environmental careers.  Biz New Orleans
  • Nunez Community College in Chalmette reported historic growth for Fall 2025 as it welcomed its largest freshman class since 2018 with a 31% jump in first-time freshmen and a 13% overall increase in headcount—students are also taking more classes and boosting credit hours through strong dual enrollment numbers and a new Cybersecurity program adding over 40 students. This growth highlights the college’s focus on delivering high-demand job training and industry-focused programs.  Biz New Orleans

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Nearly five tons of oyster shells from New Orleans' Oyster Night event were collected for coastal restoration, including 2,000 pounds donated by Grand Isle Jewels — officials said. The shells will be recycled by CRCL to reinforce living shorelines and rebuild oyster reefs that help protect coastal communities from erosion.  New Orleans City Business
  • Audubon Nature Institute announced that endangered okapi Asili is pregnant with her second calf—fathered by 10-year-old Miraq—and will give birth by year-end after a nearly 14-month pregnancy while staff monitor her and the unborn calf closely at the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center.  WWL-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • New Orleans Saints center Erik McCoy tore his biceps in a game against the Chicago Bears and will miss the rest of the season—this injury dropped the team to a 1-6 record. The Saints have not confirmed the report and will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.  WDSU
  • Excite All Stars is offering free golf lessons for New Orleans kids ages 6—18 in November.  WWL-TV
  • New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller will miss the rest of the season after he tore his ACL in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears—NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Miller had 193 rushing yards and one touchdown earlier this year and had struggled with injuries before.  WDSU
  • The Pelicans are set to open their season tomorrow against the Memphis Grizzlies with all starters expected to play, including sharpshooter Trey Murphy III—who returns from a shoulder injury that ended his season early last year. The game tips off at 7 p.m. and will air on Gulf Coast Sports Entertainment Network and Fox 8.  Fox 8
