ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A kitchen fire in New Orleans triggered a second alarm response — 14 babies were transported to Manning Family Children’s for medical care.  Fox 8
  • The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire at Touro Hospital and evacuated all patients, staff, and visitors—officials said everyone is safe and the fire was contained.  WWL-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A yearslong renovation project has raised the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club’s 1920 headquarters 3.5 feet—this work, funded by a FEMA mitigation grant to fight flood risks, also included inside upgrades to meet code. The club, a 100-year symbol of Black culture and Mardi Gras tradition, will have a ribbon cutting on Wednesday—first for members and then for the public later in the week.  WDSU

  • Cynthia Thompson, a Jefferson Parish teacher at Alfred Bonnabel Magnet Academy in Kenner, is being honored for 50 years in the classroom. For the past three months, students and colleagues have led a celebratory campaign—50 Fridays for 50 Years—to recognize her lasting impact on the school.  NOLA.com
  • Jefferson Parish Schools reassured parents that campuses remain safe and promised to share verified updates if immigration enforcement actions begin on December 1.   • Federal agents will conduct immigration enforcement sweeps in New Orleans as local Hispanic businesses and churches report fewer customers and dwindling attendance amid rising fear.   • Tulane beat Temple 37-13 in Philadelphia on Saturday as quarterback Jake Retzlaff threw three touchdown passes and running back Jamauri McClure helped the team rush for 175 yards total.   • Chris Paul hinted he might retire after posting a video before his final home state game in North Carolina yesterday, adding to speculation about his future in the NBA.
