  • Today, the Ferrari Club of Louisiana delivered 150 Christmas gifts using a caravan of red sports cars to Educare on St. Bernard Avenue in New Orleans. The festive event delighted children & school director Angie Belisle said they eagerly await the tradition.  WWL-TV

  • Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees announced that an indoor go-kart track in Metairie will open by Christmas as part of his Surge Entertainment venture (at 7000 Veterans Memorial Boulevard).  WDSU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ride New Orleans hosted the State of Transit event Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the National World War II Museum, releasing the 2025 transit report focused on clearer detour alerts, improved accessibility, and expanding the Opportunity Pass program. Advocates plan to work with local leaders to build a world-class system (serving nearly 8,000 riders).  Verite News
  • Louisiana has renewed its Medicaid contract with Aetna to cover 157,000 residents and will end UnitedHealthCare’s coverage for 330,700 enrollees by month’s end - officials said the change follows litigation over Medicaid overcharges and will reassign affected patients to other providers.  New Orleans City Business
  • On Monday, the New York Archdiocese set aside a $300 million fund to compensate about 1,300 abuse claimants by cutting its budget & selling assets while a federal judge approved a $230 million settlement for hundreds of victims by the local Archdiocese after its 2020 bankruptcy.  WDSU
  • Louisiana will drop Medicaid contracts with Aetna and UnitedHealthCare (affecting 488,500 enrollees) and reassign them to new plans by Jan. 1 as the state uses an algorithm to match patients with similar doctors over the Christmas transition after lawmaker approvals.  New Orleans City Business

  • LSU running backs coach Frank Wilson will serve as interim head coach for the Tigers as they face Houston in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27. He said his focus is to finish the season with the team of 2025 as his future role remains uncertain.  Louisiana Radio Network
