  • Over 1,800 Entergy customers lost power in Mid-City on Wednesday, Dec. 10 after a tree limb hit wires during trimming. Crews worked quickly + safely to restore service as they continue to update the situation.  WDSU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of New Orleans earned its 2025 Tree Campus recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation, marking its fourth consecutive year building a greener campus. The award spotlights its efforts in tree care, community engagement + sustainability initiatives.  Biz New Orleans
  • Louisiana schools expanded tutoring and AI classroom tools, funded by nearly $6M in federal grants. The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted Wednesday to allocate about $1M for platforms (including Amira, Khanmigo and Writable) and $4.87M for the Steve Carter Tutoring Program to 23 districts statewide.  New Orleans City Business

  • Community members and local business and religious leaders urged Jefferson Parish Council on Dec. 10 to oppose increased Border Patrol enforcement in Gretna.   • Community, religious, and elected leaders gathered Wednesday, Dec. 10 at St. James Methodist Church on Ursulines Avenue to call for an end to federal immigration raids under operation Catahoula Crunch & to support local families.
