- ➤ Starting Wednesday at 4 a.m., the Causeway will add a third tag-only lane at the toll plaza in Mandeville to ease morning traffic for nearly 75,000 commuters from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays; officials are on hand to help drivers get toll tags (for faster, cheaper crossings). NOLA.com

- ➤ 30 by Ninety Theatre in Old Mandeville announces Studio X, a new youth performance space that will open with a production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda Jr. Auditions take place Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m. for performers ages seven to 17 — marking an expansion of the theater’s arts education commitment. - ➤ ElementUSA, a Texas company, will build an $850 million demonstration plant near the Atlantic Alumina plant in Gramercy to extract rare earth minerals from red mud waste. Production is expected to begin by mid-2028 (with dust-control measures in place) and could create 200 direct and 554 indirect jobs. NOLA.com

- ➤ Louisiana high school graduates in the Class of 2024 have reached a 75% rate of earning college credits or certifications, up 11 points from 2019. Deputy commissioner Tristan Denley said the state will work to ensure every student graduates with these credentials by 2030. Louisiana Radio Network
- ➤ Louisiana received a $15 million federal grant to expand virtual tutoring for 4,500 readers who need extra help, coordinated by the Education Department & evaluated by Johns Hopkins University.
