COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday, kids competed in a 2K tournament and explored internship opportunities at The Reboot, a youth esports event hosted by Unchained Realities and NORD in New Orleans. The day also featured a resource fair and a gun buyback program.  WWL-TV
  • NORD will host the Rebbot Christmas gun trade event this weekend at a local venue (details to be announced), offering a marketplace for seasonal trading among community members.  Fox 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • WWL revives its '12 for the Road' holiday tradition — mixing classic archive clips and new mocktail segments hosted by Meg Farris, starting with Ralph the Baker.  WWL-TV
  • Families lined the streets in New Orleans East for the Jingle on the Blvd Parade, which featured floats, bands, dance teams and visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.  WWL-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • New Orleans patients can get more out of their doctor's appointment by preparing a list of symptoms and questions ahead of time and reviewing their records, with Dr. Sarah Nosal recommending that they bring a friend (or family member) to help cover all key issues.  WDSU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tulane lost its playoff game to Ole Miss — postgame coverage focused on key plays and team struggles. Analysts expect the team to work on improvements for upcoming contests.  Fox 8
  • On Saturday night, the Pelicans beat the Pacers 128 to 109 as Zion Williamson came off the bench to tie his season high with 29 points. He made 9 of 14 shots and 11 of 13 free throws (and grabbed 7 rebounds).  WWL-TV
  • Irish kicker Charlie Smyth, who hit a 47-yard game-winning field goal against the Panthers, signed a three-year deal to remain with the Saints and continue his NFL journey after joining through the International Player Pathway Program in 2024.  Fox 8
  • Tulane alumni gathered at Abita Brewery in New Orleans to support the Green Wave during their first playoff appearance despite a loss to Ole Miss. The event united former and current students as coach Jon Sumrall leaves for Florida next year.  Fox 8
  • Georgia will face Ole Miss in the 2026 Sugar Bowl quarterfinal on Thursday, Jan. 1 at 7 p.m. CT at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans as the final College Football Playoff matchup, with both teams set to advance their postseason goals.  Fox 8
