The Saints cut kicker Daniel Carlson and claim running back Audric Estime off waivers
The New in New Orleans team
If you've been waiting on a Saints kicking fix, it's here. The team released kicker Daniel Carlson Tuesday and claimed running back Audric Estime off waivers from the Browns, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Carlson missed four of his 12 field goals, all from 50 yards or more, plus two extra points.
Charlie Smyth, now on the practice squad, will likely get the kicking job. Estime, who ran for 19 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the Browns, joins a team that is 2-5 and last in the NFC South and has fired run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti.
- Next game: Sun., Nov. 8, noon, Caesars Superdome vs. Browns (5-3)
- Smyth last year: 12 of 16 field goals, one a game-winner
- Estime last year: 198 yards on 46 carries, 4.3 per carry
18 yardsSaints rushing yards in the 16-10 loss to the Steelers in Paris
That effort came right before the team fired run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti.
