About the Gallery Talk Speaker

Pippin Frisbie-Calder

Pippin Frisbie-Calder received her BFA with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from Tulane University. She has exhibited throughout the United States, Canada and Indonesia, with residencies at the Joan Mitchell Center, LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and A Studio in the Woods. She was a speaker at TEDxBatonRouge. Working in printmaking, painting and installation, she collaborates with scientists, veterinarians and conservationists to visually communicate stories about climate change, land loss, and stewardship. Her installations invite viewers to remove a hand-printed bird, simulating the extinction of a species. Her woodcuts and paintings depict specific ecosystems and their conservation stories. Through draftsmanship, science, and printmaking, Pippin Frisbie-Calder connects audiences with ecosystems and species we still have and others we have failed to save.
