ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Traffic on I-10 eastbound at Mile Marker 217 on the Bonnet Carre Spillway was delayed after a semi truck caught fire overnight + a four-vehicle crash blocked the right lane + drivers were advised to use Airline Hwy as an alternate route.  WWL-TV

  • Tulane University has opened registration for its second annual Future of Energy Forum, scheduled for Sept. 10-12 at its uptown campus.   • Get Online NOLA, a New Orleans-based web design and digital marketing agency, was honored with a Web Excellence Award for redesigning the HR NOLA website and earned a Gold Award from the Hermes Creative Awards — also receiving an Honorable Mention for its work with Gro Enterprises.   • A man was found shot to death in the Seabrook neighborhood this weekend — police identified him as a Jefferson Parish Corrections Officer.  WWL-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mayer Building Company and Studio West Architects rebuilt the historic Karnofsky Building at 427 S Rampart in New Orleans by reusing original bricks to restore three of four facades after Hurricane Ida caused its collapse. The project—completed in May—honors the building’s link to jazz legend Louis Armstrong and preserves a key part of the city’s cultural legacy.  New Orleans City Business
  • A captain dispute over control of Krewe of Oshun will be heard in Orleans Civil Court today—this hearing will decide which leader takes charge of the historic Carnival krewe. The court's decision marks a key moment for the traditionally Black group during ongoing leadership challenges.  WWL-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tulane University added Thomas E. Jorden, a top energy boss, to its board this spring and will add Erica Washington, a public health leader, as a Tulane Alumni Association board member on July 1—helping the school boost its work in health and energy studies.  Biz New Orleans

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Troop NOLA marked its first year in New Orleans by making nearly 500 arrests, recovering over 50 stolen vehicles, seizing about 200 firearms, and confiscating drugs to help lower violent crime—officials say the unit is part of Gov. Jeff Landry’s crime-reduction strategy. The unit will expand when a new class of cadets graduates in December to further boost law enforcement efforts in the city.  Fox 8
